Food for thought.....
Wow 2 posts in one day....how about that?
Since I'm on the road of thankfulness right now I thought I'd share this with all of you. A co-worker sent this to me through an email. I found it interesting. It's allowed me not to get so frustrated on those nights where I don't know what to cook for supper even though there's loads in the deep freezer and fridge.
As you look through this notice the family sizes, food costs and amount of food. It's nuts that the bigger the families get the less there seems to be.
Italy: The Manzo family of Sicily
Food expenditure for one week: 214.36 Euros or $260.11

Germany: The Melander family of Bargteheide
Food expenditure for one week: 375.39 Euros or $500.07

United States: The Revis family of North Carolina
Food expenditure for one week $341.98

Mexico: The Casales family of Cuernavaca
Food expenditure for one week: 1,862.78 Mexican Pesos or $189.09

Poland: The Sobczynscy family of Konstancin-Jeziorna
Food expenditure for one week: 582.48 Zlotys or $151.27

Egypt: The Ahmed family of Cairo
Food expenditure for one week: 387.85 Egyptian Pounds or $68.53

Ecuador: The Ayme family of Tingo
Food expenditure for one week: $31.55

Bhutan: The Namgay family of Shingkhey Village
Food expenditure for one week: 224.93 ngultrum or $5.03

Chad: The Aboubakar family of Breidjing Camp
Food expenditure for one week: 685 CFA Francs or $1.23

So that means the weekly cost per person is:
Italy 52.00
Germany 125.00
U.S.A. 85.50
Mexico 37.80
Poland 30.20
Egypt 5.71
Ecuador 3.51
Bhutan 0.41
Chad 0.21
I don't know about you but I can't imagine feeding Jason and I on only 30.20 a week each let alone 0.21. Really makes you think huh?
What are your thoughts/observations/feelings after seeing this?

whoa...I was trying to think what our families food for a week would look like all together at one time. Would I even know what we regularly eat? Maybe this is why I struggle with preparing meals...
A very interesting post. Very interesting.
Debie
Ya I don't know what ours would look like all together either. I like the idea of the American family with the pizza though :) We're kind of the same way...it always seems to be a different assortment every time I go to the grocery store and that's why it's so hard to stay on budget. I think it's ridiculous that the 2 of us go through 200 in groceries every 2weeks though.
Thanks for the comment Deb...glad you liked the post!
